About us

Background Information

Community Environmental Social Welfare Rehabilitation Programme is a local non-profit (NGO) focused on restoration of hope of Orphan and Vulnerable Children (OVC), women, youth and less fortunate across Kenya.

CESCAWR started operations in 2009 in Kiptugumo- Kericho county, later it spread its services to 4 other counties.

CESCAWR NGO is currently operating in 5 Counties, Kericho, Kisumu, Nandi, Nakuru and Baringo taking care of over 200 on outreach and feeding programs.

CESCAWR NGO was established in the year 2011 to empower communities on issues affecting them and provide trainings on environment conservation across the country.

To make Kenya a country where communities define their destiny through evidenced based in community based activities and projects.

Main Objectives

  • In its profound quest to cater for the Orphaned Vulnerable Children (OVC), CESCAWR, endeavors to:
    1. Provide the enrolled Orphaned Vulnerable Children (OVC) with basic needs such as: food, education, clothing, accommodation, medical care/counseling and parental love among others
    2. Enlighten the enrolled Orphaned Vulnerable Children (OVC) on children rights so as to grow up as productive and responsible citizens.
    3. Train the enrolled children on life and survival skills to enable them to become self-reliant and responsible individuals in the society.
    4. Disseminate information on Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health to the Orphaned Vulnerable Children (OVC) so as to empower them to make proper judgments in regard to sex and sexuality.
    5. Promote Christian values to the Orphaned /Vulnerable Children (OVC) through Bible study and devotions as they grow up to be God fearing and morally up-right individuals
  • To support and sensitize on prevention measures, people living with and affected by HIV and AIDS with a view of reducing stigma and employing measures that lead to holistic living.
  • To execute programs geared towards provision of services and training on HIV nutrition, care and treatment.
  • To deal with the root cause of poverty and discrimination with a view to improving the living standards of the above mentioned.
  • To disseminate information on the care, conservation and protection of the environment and work with social groups and individuals through Tree planting and Agro forestry.
  • To initiate Income Generating Activities to mitigate donor dependency syndrome, ultimately developing sustainability mechanisms.
  • To engage in lobby and advocacy geared towards the sensitization of the society on good governance and social justice.

Achievements

Over the years, we have had some breackthrough. Here are some examples

  • Feeding programmes in primary schools within slums in the 5 counties.
  • Environmental conservation resilience through tree planting in villages and schools.
  • Facilitation of agricultural and peace clubs in schools.
  • Rehabilitation programmes for youths and advocacy against radicalization and involvement in crime
  • Peace building and cross border conflict management along Nandi, Kericho, Baringo, Nakuru and Kisumu counties.
  • Initiatives on fight against HIV/AIDs
